In the Orchard

Open for U-Pick: Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Stayman Winesap, Winesap, Pink Lady, Fuji, Gold Rush

Our harvest season is winding down, but we still have apples on our trees! Our Empire and Winesap apples are considered storage apples. What exactly are storage apples? They are firm, hardy apples that are well suited for long term, primarily through winter. How would you store these apples through the winter months? To absorb moisture, keep each apple covered with terry cloth, newspaper, or an old t-shirt. Ensure you store them in a cool, high-humidity environment, away from direct sunlight; 32º is the ideal temperature. A cool basement or garage usually does the trick. If you have neither, your next best choice would be the crisper drawer in your refrigerator.

In the Market

Honeycrisp, Ozark Gold, Empire, Enterprise, Fuji, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Pink Lady, Stayman Winesap, Jonathan, Jonalicious apples, winter squash, and pumpkins.

Turn a side dish into a complete meal with the sweet and savory flavors of the roasted butternut squash and apples, it is comfort food for these cool fall evenings.

Louisburg Hard Cider

The Estate Series is made 100% from apples grown in our orchard here at Pome on the Range. If you prefer dry wine, our Winesap will definitely be your choice, made with only Winesap apples, it offers a crisp, almost champagne-like feel. Our Orchard Blend is semi-dry, offering Jonathan and Red Delicious bursts of flavor throughout each sip. We hope that you will enjoy our Estate Series as much as we have.
